Just about everyone loves going to the sporting event of a loved one! Whether it is your child, grandchild, spouse, or friend, those moments of pure competition are fantastic to watch. We are positive you do what you can to make sure your loved one is safe. But have you considered their smile? Before you go out to find a mouthguard, take a look at our buying guide below. It’s always best to get an idea of what you need to look for it.
Stock Mouthguards – You can find stock mouthguards in just about any department or athletic store around. They are the least expensive guard, but that comes with a heavy price in comfort. They are so big and bulky that athletes often find it difficult to breathe and communicate while wearing this type of guard. There is no way to make the guard fit your mouth, which causes most of the problems. We suggest that you skip the stock mouthguard.
Boil and Bite Mouthguards – The next step up is the boil and bite mouthguard. It is the middle of the price range. It does offer some customization through the boil and bite process, but these mouthguards are still too big for most athletes’ mouths. This might be ok for a backup, but not for everyday use.
Custom Mouthguards – For athletes who need protection and performance, we recommend the custom mouthguards we are able to create right here in the office. We will take impressions and make a mouthguard that will fit great and be completely comfortable in the middle of the competition.
Contact us today to set up a consultation here at the office. We would love to discuss your mouthguard options and start your custom mouthguard process. Remember, it doesn’t take much of an accident to do a lot of damage to you smile, so invest in excellent smile protection!
