Retirement Communities

My sister and I have been visiting my mom’s winter digs for over 15 years.

It’s a 55 and over Retirement Park called Limetree Park in Bonita Springs Florida. It’s my Happy Place.

I’ve gained and lost so many special friends from there, all of who have warmed my heart in some way.

They say that socially active seniors tend to live longer and enjoy stronger immune systems and if you live here, you have a “built-in neighborhood” and lots of opportunities for conversations and super fun activities.

Once a month they have what they call “Tiki Thursday”. It’s my favorite night because they have karaoke. My sister and I have been singing there for so long, that people are starting to request songs😊

Another fav is what they call “Dilly Dilly”. It happens most every day in the late afternoon and retirees take turns having it outside at their house. It’s basically a reason to have happy hour, I think.

Every other Saturday you can fill up on Pancakes & Sausage in the Clubhouse. There’s an Ice Cream Social and a Potato Bar scheduled every season. There are pool parties, dances, casino trips, and cruises that you can take part in. Every day you can play shuffleboard, horseshoes and bocci ball. The list goes on and on.

I wish that all our seniors could experience a retirement community and I truly believe my mom’s trips down South every year have helped keep her looking young and feeling healthy what more would a daughter want for her mother? I’m just truly blessed she shared this little slice of heaven with me.
