Photobiomodulation
Dental Lasers can be used for many surgical applications. When the power of a laser is turned down it still has effects on the tissue. It has been found that when a laser is focused onto tissues at lower power levels it has a biostimulation effect. We refer to this as LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy), or PBM (photobiomodulation).
PBM can be used to treat aphthous ulcers (canker sores), reduce swelling, reduce pain after surgery, treat fever blisters, manage inflammatory conditions, reduce orthodontic pain, and manage temporomandibular disorder (TMD, or jaw joint pain)
